What are you looking forward to most about the college experience?
What I’m looking forward to most from the college experience is being able to know what independence is for the first time. Even though I am grateful for my parents' efforts to always provide me with what I needed, I wish they pushed themselves and I out of our comfort zones more. In my family there is this strong sense of protection and uncertainty that sometimes feels suffocating. Up until this year, everything decision I’ve ever made in my life has had some sort of lingering paranoia behind it, not because I did something wrong, but because I’d wonder if it would affect my parents in any way. For example, I’ve never hung out with my friends until recently, not because my parents didn't let me, but because I didn't want to burden them with having to drive me from place to place, especially with how many errands they have to run during weekends. Being on my own will finally give me freedom in the sense that my parents won't have to worry about me to an extent and I will get to manage what I do on my own without bothering anyone.
