Team Golf

The Northern Texas PGA Team Golf program flips the board on the game of golf by providing team formatted events to Junior Tour Members. Team Golf teams are created through a facility’s junior golf program.  The Team Golf program offers events for the beginner-level player.  This program is for Junior Tour Members ages 7-14 with beginning level golf experience, and offers an introduction to tournament play through 9-hole, team stroke play competition. Team Golf serves as a fun, social and less stressful approach to tournament golf. It provides junior golfers with knowledge and skills that set the stage for a lifetime of golf enjoyment. To participate, players must be a member of an existing Team Golf program.

Team Golf is open to all Junior Tour members ages 7-14 and is specifically designed for beginner level players who do not possess extensive tournament experience.  Team Golf is designed to be a "stepping stone" into Individual Stroke Play tournaments for those players who are unable to consistently score 45 or under for 9-holes.

A Team is comprised of six players that form three 2-person Teams.  These 2-person Teams compete in their respective coed age divisions (7-10, 11-12, 13-14) in a Four-Ball Stroke Play format.  Each 2-person Team will be awarded points based on how they finish in their respective division.  Points earned in each division are then added together to create the Team's overall point total.  Awards are distributed based on overall Team point totals.  Each individual on the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place Teams are awarded medals.

All Team Golf participants compete from age and gender specific tees which are set at modified yardages.  There are three sets of tees at Team Golf tournaments that are approximately 1,600 yards, 2,000 yards and 2,400 yards in length.

Play is governed by the USGA Rules of Golf and its Decisions however, Team Golf  incorporates a number of player friendly qualities including the ability to have a caddie, a 9-stroke limit, the use of distance measuring devices, and a 1-shot maximum out of bunkers.
